Melbourne Victory’s Westfield W-League and Under-18 Academy Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins, will lead two training sessions with Murray United Football Club next week as part of Melbourne Victory Academy’s Regional Camps.
Victory have worked in partnership with Murray United over the last eight months to start up the Pre-Academy Program in the region following a number of other visits to observe talent in the area, most recently at the 2019 Country Championships.
The sessions will form part of Victory’s ongoing commitment to the region with the camp taking place on Monday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 9.
Hopkins spoke of the great opportunity he saw to not only build the Club’s footprint in the region, but also to scout potential future W-League stars.
“It’s fantastic to bring Melbourne Victory’s Pre-Academy Program to the border where we can see and work with some of the best upcoming female talent in the state,” said Hopkins.
“We’ve worked closely with Murray United Football Club over the last eight months to get this program up and running, with our key focus to ensure we provide the same opportunities to regional players as we do metropolitan.
“By doing this, we’re confident that we can not only further bridge the gap between academy programs and the professional level, but also continue to build strong relationships between the Club and the region, which is fantastic.”
